  • This is a bit messy but it gets closer to the inner life of the music than either the Salonen or Craft versions.

  • @ldixon11 See above about good things, such as Beethoven's 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th all with the Royal Philharmonic. I can't believe it's a matter "digitization". I'ts completely unprepared. Sorry!

  • @Opoczynski - Perhaps it's just a bad digitization of a very old recording. I've heard some good things conducted by Scherchen.

  • is arnold Schoemberg the composer?

  • Is this the same Hermann Scherchen who conducted Beethoven's 8th with the Royal Philharmonic? I can't believe it. The conception is pitiful. The orchestra is is on the level of a high school band. Now I believe that the Royal Philharmonic in the 8th sounded good in spite Scherchen not because of him. If you want to hear a good St. Anne Prelude and Fugue go to Salonen with the L.A. Philharmonic, or better yet, Robert Craft with the Chicago Symphony (if you can get it).

  • WOW! GENIAL!
