Well, of all the dangers for us on the road... soccer mums in unnecessarily large 4WD's (SUV's, Toorak Taxis... you know what I mean), idiot drivers not noticing us... or ignoring us...
But a huge piece of construction equipment falling off a semi trailer? That's just not your day.

i got hit by a car today while riding my bike to school. luckily, i am relatively ok and only got some cuts and bruises. but, it shows how things can change in the blink of an eye.

as a general rule you try not to drive side by side with any vehicle, but statistically you are safer with a trucker than any random person with a car. but yes, its important you move past the truck quickly yet safely as they can have pretty large blind spots

I am so glad to see you get back on .I both ride Harley and drive truck everyone that reads this please be careful .That truck loaded is 80 k lbs of rolling hurt you ,and it cannot stop on a dime ,there may be loose pieces that could fall off.We do a pretrip inspection and a post but that may not get every thing .Ride safe

@UltmtSniper When I first started to ride on the road, my father said to me "They're all trying to kill you, you know?". I never forgot it, and managed to go thirty years without serious injury (so far, touch wood LOL). It's a basic rule every rider must know.

@UltmtSniper I live in the UK and i was always told to look at other road users as potential hazards! Especially car drivers as they just don't look or don't see you! Their observational skills aren't as good as a motorcyclists because a bikers life depends on it!
I drove tractor trailer for 10 years and I'm a rider too. No matter if a truck is moving or stopped; Get ahead of it fast and safely, stay far behind it but NEVER ride of sit along side it. Remember: There's the left side and the Suicide. Never trust a truck or anything else with more than two wheels. And something else I've always told others to remember: When you get on your bike, before you put it in gear and had out say to yourself, "Everything on the road will try to kill me today."

I have a friend of mine who was injuried in an accident and lost use of both legs. As she is parilized from the waist down. She is back in the saddle riding a bike. She has a Can Am Spyder and carriers her wheel chair on the rear. The bike has a 990 CC motor with a semi automatic transmission and a hand brake that controls all three wheels.
