So I love how no one who comments quite realize that THIS IS A CARTOON. How exactly are we supposed to explain the complex issues that make up history to elementary kids? We have sufficient history classes in high school that do teach the expanded version. Therefore, the job of an elementary school teacher is not to cover every little detail, it's to provide a good basis for later learning.

I think that this is why kids today are dumbasses about history. The Civil War was 98% NOT about Slavery, it was more about States Rights and the South seceeding. Most Northerners as well as Southerners didnt care about Slavery, in fact alot of Union soldiers deserted and the New York Draft Riots were caused by the Emancipation Proclaimation. Northerners as well as Southerners deserted because they didnt want to die for slaves. I'm for the Union, I just care about the Nation being united.
