whenever i hear about imagined "genocide" in sudan, I am reminded of the great Sam Kinnison saying you can't grow crops in sand...move to where the FOOD IS. Zimbabwe stole all the land from the white farmers, gave it to blacks who mis-managed the land and went from a country of food surplus to hunger...and of course they come to the USA demanding we help. What a joke. Let them take care of themselves...if we have problems no one comes to our aid.

I agree with you. Poetry is meant to be provocative. Thinking about the theme from a subjective viewpoint is the object.

I'm a student of her mother. I had the chance to meet Shannon and hear her poetry once. By far she is the only person I know who actually lived her life. She's done more at the age of 20 than most people do in a life time.

She was cave diving when it happened. She signaled to the leader that she needed to go up so he took her but didn't stay to see if she was ok. Another diver found her only by accident because he wanted to look back down one more time before he went up.

Pray for her mother.

R.I.P. Sudanese children - the future for this world. I know she is in heaven with the many Sudanese martyrs and victims who have died and will continue to die needlessly.
