The flash button will pop the flash up and can be used if and when you need the flash but have the flash disabled via the auto flash function, or are using on of the PASM modes.

@WOB1010 - I certainly wouldn't go out and buy EF lenses for use specifically on a micro 4/3 body, no. This is for those of us who already have EF lenses that we use on EOS cameras and would like to use on a m4/3 camera. For $20 or $30, you can get an adapter and use any/all the EF lenses you may already have though. That's all. This also goes for any other modern auto focusing lens regardless of mount (Nikon, Sony, etc) that has an electronically adjusting aperture mechanism.

nice review mate..well done.
i am receiving the GH1 next week and was wondering if you could tell me where you got your EF to 4/3 adapter? there are alot of different ones on ebay but its hard to know what are good and what are not
also wondering if you have used canon FD lenses on your GF1? can you change the aperture on the actual lenses when atttached to your GF1?

@Regnis83 - Thanks!
I can't remember the actual EF>m4/3 adapter I bought, but it was cheap, and purchased from a seller in HK. Read seller reviews and make sure they guarantee that EF lenses will focus to infinity. Otherwise, the adapter is just a mount converter allowing for the proper flange distance.
I have used FD lenses (and vastly prefer it on the m4/3 system) as they allow for aperture adjustment in/on the lens itself (and FD lenses are pretty affordable).
Cheers,
Tyson

thank for the reply....
was wondering if you could recommend some good FD lenses? was looking at the FD 200mm f2.8 and something in the 20-50mm focal range
any recommendations would be awesome

@Regnis83 - I've really enjoyed the FD 35mm f/2 SSC and the 100mm f/4 macro lenses. Because the effective focal length/field of view is doubled on a m4/3 cam, it's harder to find good, affordable wide angle lenses that maintain a wide angle of view, but there are tons of 35-50mm lenses available, many of them super cheap in older mounts like FD, F, OM etc.
