  • ahhh u dont even know that bharatnatyam is a south indian dance form, when did it become an east indian art form?

well, i appreciate the way u've made d video, nice try but the dancer should have had some more makeup on, there should have been good lighting

and just for doing one single step her hands r moving a lot, was she nervous or something?

  • Thanks for the comment Suhaee. I say East Indian just to separate it from "West Indian" or "Native American". She is actually a famous dance teacher in New Jersey. But we were shooting late night around 2 am, maybe thats why u see those movements.

  • Please change it. It is confusing. And you are saying that documented history is available for 200 years only. Even in Wikipedia they have mentioned that it is recorded in Tholkappiyam which itself is more than 2000 years old.

  • The speaker specifically said that Bharat Natyam evolved from temples to the king's palaces, and to the current mainstream. Also, who do you think Parvati Ji taught it to? Lastly keep in mind that at this time all kings in Bharat were Hindu, so it was always a Hindu artform.

Anyways, good job, I have a friend who takes Bharat Natyam. Now I know something of the subject!

  • You don't have any idea where and how BharataNatyam began. It was Lord Brahma who handed this Divine artform down to Bharat Muni and Shiva taughts this art to Parvati, who later taught it to the people. Also, no it didn't begin in the Kiongs' courts..it was part of Temple worship where it was performed by temple artistes during pujas. BN is a Hindu artform and will remain so.

  • mayB a real studio!!
