The babies are now 9 days and 7 days old. They are looking cuter by the day. Given a chance they will run away from the nest, only to be dragged back by the leg, ear or even nose, by their mother/surrogate mother. There is only one significantly smaller runt now, but it seems healthy, only about 1/4 of the size of the largest.

  • ...I assume it is OK to pick up the baby mouse by now...I've heard (correctly?) that some small rodents ignore or eat (?!) their young if the babies were handled by others...something to do with skin oils or odors...?

  • @jwm239 It all depends on your relationship with the mothers. These mothers were handled from birth and so have their babies. They don't mind from birth, although I usually give them a day or two without disturbing them. They'll let you know if it's okay to do so.

  • hello, my mouse is pregnant and im wondering about the outcome,

what color was the father of these mice?

  • @Megann5123 Have you got babies then? How are they?

  • omg so cute!

  • awwwwwwwwwwww so small and adorable

  • They are so adorable! Love love love looove!

  • They're so adorable especially the brown one. hope u wont feed them to snakes. :(

  • @MultiGemmiee Any mouse of an old enough age will mate with another mouse. They don't both have to be albino.

  • @sjswatford the black one is just about to give birth. and the black/white and the beige/white just became pregnant a few days ago

  • @Megann5123 Well I am not an expert, but from my experience, black and white together only seems to be quite dominant. I have had B&W mated with B&W and produce only B&W. There could be quite a mix though.

The other cage will have even more mixed colours.

The great thing is, it's so exciting to see the colours develop. You'll see roughly what colour they'll be after a week or so, but even later some patches will change colour to deeper colours.

When did the mouse become pregnant?
