Billy Silver

Billy who? Billy Silver was the Appaloosa marked pony horse for most of Secretariat's races. Having owned Appaloosas myself since 1974, I wanted to do at least one song that featured one, and he seemed like the kind of high profile figure I was looking for. Fortunately, some pictures exist. Unfortunately, information about him is almost non-existant.

Billy Silver was the only buddy Secretariat would allow in his stall other than Sweat, his groom. Billy Silver slept with Secretariat in a double stall sometimes.

thanks for this, nice job, Billy Silver was a familiar face to Big Red, Lucien must have felt there was an importance for Big Red to have this horse as a regular, just as Ron, Eddie, Charlie, and the rest of the team.
