  • @YambidiBlamBlam That is an Ontos. the Marines fielded them in Vietnam.

Had 5 106 recoiless rifles on it. Was supposed to be a tank killer but they

sure could take out a bunker. Had to get out of the vehicle to reload. Ouch

  • I remember the first time I saw one of these things near Augsburg. I was used to the A1's,

but this goofy looking thing made me stop and stare. I got to see the Shilleighllleeee(sp!)

fired twice from Sheridans. Flew like it was drunk, but nailed the target both times.

Hats off to us Cold Warriors!

  • Was a Starship Trooper at Hood and Germany. Was there for the phase out.

  • What was that weird looking piece of armor at the very end? Was it AA?

  • @TheMibba79 I was in C 1/37th, April 75 to Oct 78. We drew our A2's in January '76 in Vilseck. So, you were there, when we were "Shown off" as being the latest thing.

  • My dad John "Jack" Pickett trained on these and tested these. I have a picture of him when he was in Germany testing them. To bad we can not hear the music.

  • I think the copy right people need to focus on other things.

  • I was trained as a M60A2 crewman and served with 3rd Bn. 33rd Armor, 3AD at Kirchgons Germany 1978-1980. Shortly after i left the battalion converted back to M60A1s

  • I was in Germany Sept 1974 to June 1979 1st Bn. 37th Armor, 1st AD, Katterbach, Germany, we had a mix of M-60's & M-60A1's in 1974, in early in 1976 we got the M60-A2, I was trained in Aug 1974 @ Ft. Knox after my AIT @ Ft.Knox, the top 10% of my AIT Class went on to 4 weeks training on the M60-2, so I was sent, being in the top 10% of my AIT Class. went to Germany in Sept 1974, no M60-A2 until Early 1976, But I liked the A2.

  • We in Germany had been told of the A2's impending arrival, though when they did arrive, they turned out to be M-60 A1's, but with stabilization on the main gun. There was a bit of tooth sucking over the thought of the missile launcher, as we had heard of the time needed to allow the scavenging system to function. We were not certain we could put enough fire down range with having to wait for each hit, then scaving, before firing the next one. I was long gone home before any Starships showed up.
