let's say if I have to measure amps from a 6 v motorbike battery so must I connect the battery to a motor first and then measure apms or I can directly measure amps from the battery alone ?

You should also mention that you are also measuring the voltage drop on the ammeter.

There is a 2.83Ω resistance in the circuit and the motor is consuming 25.53W. This useful information provided by this clever idea.
