Episode 8 : Nightmare 1/3

Settings: Joe's room, Jonas Residence; 8am

Joe's POV

Im not really the kind of person who regularly remembers what he had dreamt every night. I could hardly sleep at all.

But last night was different. I had a terrible nightmare. It was the first time I dreamt about Demi.

I was standing in this empty room. It was very dark and cold inside. Im freezing when suddenly I heard Demi's voice. She was crying in pain. I panicked. I looked everywhere to find nothing. I ran around the four-cornered room, searching. Shouting her name over and over again hoping that she would hear and finally show up. Im lacking out of air, I could hardly breathe. I couldn't run any longer. The next thing I knew I fell down on my knees, gasping for air. Shaking. Im not sure if it was because of the fear or the cold. My knees gave out, I crumpled down the black and white checkered floor. Still shaking. I held my face with my hands and felt the warm tears flowing endlessly. Im freezing, it was too cold as if I was dying. But I couldn't think of myself dying. Demi needs me now. Demi was in pain, she was crying. I need to find her. I uncovered my face and tried to stand up. When I got on my knees I fell down again. I couldn't stand anymore. And the last option I had was to call her name. "DEMI!" I cried out loud. Still shaking. I closed my eyes, shouting Demi's name again. For a second, I heard her called my name. her voice was smooth and toneless. I quickly opened my eyes widely. She was there. Standing infront of me. her face was very pale with no sign of emotion. She's still wearing the white dress. I tried to stand again but failed. She looked at me then slowly walked away. "Demi, NO!" I screamed, my voice shrugged, holding my hands up in her direction. Her eyes widen in shock and then she called my name again, this time her voice was scared and worried. It was as if she was awaken from sleep. Her pale face turned red and she was struggling very hard from someone behind her to free herself. Im useless, freezing on the floor. She was slowly being pulled backwards by someone holding her waist. She cried my name again. "JOE!.." With all the strength left, I got up on my knees, and crawled towards her sluggishly. I was panicking, shouting her name, Then all of a sudden she was gone. She was pulled away.

I gasped for air--my eyelid popping wide open--the moment I realized I just woke up. I practically screamed her name out loud from my room. The bright sunlight through my window touched my skin. It was only a dream. I held my hand up on my face. I was sweating very hard.

I sat up on my bed sluggishly and let out a sigh. It was only a dream, I repeated to myself. But it was the most terrifying nightmare I've ever had, the one where I have to run till my knees gave out in pain, searching for her, struggling to breath in air while freezing to death. I turned to see my alarm clock, it was already 8o'clock in the morning. I grabbed my iphone from the table and saw no new messages or missed calls.

While I was staring blankly at the wallpaper of my iphone, someone knocked my door.

"Honey, wake up already."

"Im already awake, mom!" I looked up at the door. I placed my iphone back to its place and jumped out of the bed. I went to brush my teeth and took a warm bath.

Settings: Dining Room, Jonas Residence; 9am

After an hour, I took the stairs and head to the dining room. My head still feels dizzy, probably because of that nightmare. The most horrible one. I shivered from the thought.

"Good morning, Joe." Nick smiled at me the second I settled down beside him, startling my dizzy mind.

"Good morning, sleepyhead." Kevin snorted before I could manage to smile back to Nick.

I ignored him and smiled back to my younger brother, "Good morning to you, Nick."

"No 'Good morning' for me, eh?" Kevin pretended to be offended. Not very convincing though.

"No, of course." I laughed at him.

"Very nice, Joe. That's my bro." Nick laughed along with me.

Kevin gave us a look and then sighed.

"Alright boys, eat your breakfast now. Another rehearsal later for Tonight Show with Jay Leno. You'll decide what to perform. Okay?" our mom placed our breakfast on the table.

"Sure, mom. We'll talk about it later." Kevin answered back politely.

I started eating my meal as my two brothers followed my lead.

There was an immeasurable silence. It felt awkward for the three of us, or maybe just for me.

I cleared my throat breaking the stupid silence. Kevin looked up at me immediately and then back down again to his food.

"So what song are we gonna perform?" I asked them.

"Hmm.." Nick settled down his spoon and fork. "What song was on your mind?"

"I just thought about Shelf." I trailed off.

"Then Shelf it is." Kevin confirmed. "I think it was fun to change it up a bit."

"Yeah, so we'll perform a new song at each event this week?" Nick raised his eyebrows.
