I love that sound of the GN you can kinda hear the motor over the evo and it used only 2 gears compared the the 4 of the evo. Such a great race tho both good drivers
Great race man, I gave this vid 5 stars.... simply because you just don't see the Grand National out kicking ass on the streets much, its such a prized car, owners don't want to f*ck it up or have it impounded...LOL!!!! good show ole' boy....
It took me around $1100 to get a setup to take my car into the 11s, with stock turbo.(22-23lbs of boost). I upgraded my turbo and ended up blowing a head gasket. So I went ahead and got ported heads and had the intake ported. Unfortunately, when the heads were replaced, something got disturbed and I'm getting false knock, so it might be a while before I get it fixed and dialed in. I would image my combo should easily get me into the low 11s.
damn good race, but i would take the GN any day over a evo. The GN was probably stock, and that EVo was tuned the fuck out. I love imports, but there is not replacement for displacement. placing a turbo on a larger blocked engine is where its at; from a racing stand point! Invest another 2 grand into the GN, and it would make the evo (at full tune , and street legal) look like a Rc car. You don't even want to compare a a GN to a EVO on the Track, lmao. Both are great cars, and kick ass!
Why wouldn't you put an intercooler on it? I know they are not an absolute necessity, but I can't see a valid reason not to run one from a mechanical/performance perspective. A little bit of extra lag sure, but you'll be doing your engine a favor by further reducing the threat of predetonation.
The (mitsu) evo sound like it about to blow-up. must be trying to hard with that Chinese toy (toyota)...LOL. What mod does the gn have? sound stock. Plus the evo is a true BOX. the wind resistance is hurting its trap speed. FUCK a evo (rice).
