  • I usually leave herbs. Or food, and then give it to the wildlife outside.

  • Outside offerings, I have used Honey Milk (honey mixed in milk). In the out side world like going into a restaurant I have offered money to Buddha. ^^

What offerings are best? Whatever feels right, like your lemons (I love eating them, so I think the Gods do too). Plus offerings should mirror your morels as well: such as a vegetation won't offer meat. If you belief killing is wrong: no blood offerings. Stuff like that.

  • My offerings are biodegradable :)

  • I don't have a lot of opportnity to make as fancy of offerings as I would like, as my parents respect my religion but don't want to buy things for me to make offering cakes, so my offerings tend to be bread, juice/water, and I've found that honey works very well too. Like many of those who have commented, I belong to the school of thought where one leaves the food outside for Deity, as opposed to eating it. I have a mini shrine built by the shed (seriously, it's tiny) that I leave the food on.

  • For the Egyptian deities, loads of them like beer or wine, little coriander moon cakes, onions, halwa, dates, hummus, etc. The loas all have very personal treats they like, eggs with veve's on them,cigars,rum,perfume,make-up,combs,mirrors,fans,milk,candy,pretty shiny things. The Indian deities are fairly specific too,but butter/ghee,spicy goodies, burfi, etc.I don't eat what I've offered, but will leave it overnight, then offer it outside later.Cheers!

  • Honey is a great general offering I find. I leave it out on a dish for at least a day no more than a week. then it gets replaced. For some spirits candied ginger seems to be a favorite. I have two offering bowls I put herbs in and small stones. I make different sorts of offerings for different occasions. I really like placing offerings under trees or burying in the ground. I have tried homemade rice cakes. I eat a part and offer the rest. I would not eat the offered part.

  • I'm new and poor so an offering of bread and some honey is all I can do. On eating it, I don't know about anyone else but to me the food is for the gods' intake and not my own.

  • I use many different things as offerings, coins, shells, wishes, gems, herbs, flowers, rice, corn meal, fruits...to name some. Anything used in ritual as an offering usually ends up burried out back in the woods or cast on the ground for the animals.

  • My two cats are little thieves so I don't dare leave food offerings on my altar. You know what they say "when mom's away...the boys will play" well my boys try their hardest to respect my altar but I can imagine how tempting it is to sit on it...LOL. I always consume the food offerings and if it's not a food offering I burn incense (I'm big on incense though). Sometimes I'll write on parchment paper or joss paper and burn that as an offering. In the warmer months I may offer water outside.

  • I have more of a kemetic perspective and I consume any food offerings, Like tonight I offered Jaffa cakes to Seth! Lol I had a strong feeling to do so :) It's seen as sharing a meal with the netjeru :) Also I do like to give offerings to the wildlife.
