*** WARNING *** this video contains images that some people may find distressing.

This is a collaboration made by amateur musicians and artists from all over the world as part of the worldwide effort to ensure that the people of Haiti are not forgotten now that the initial shock of the devastating earthquake is no longer headline news.

The complete song and video were produced in 17 days and this song is being put on a "Haiti Relief" album this weekend called "Hearts for Haiti" with Ellpo Records with a group from Soundclick. The money will go to the Clinton/Bush Haiti Relief Fund. This video will be shown at a diplomatic music fundraiser on February 3rd in Ottawa as well being put on by the embassies of Hungary, Czech and Slovakia and Poland.

Bleeding Hearts by Casia
(In memory of Haiti's Earthquake)

(V1)
Behind death's door wrapped in a shroud
Parents mourn amongst the crowd
What can you do when the walls fall down
Where do you look with no-one around
Trapped in the rubble with no way out
An only child, a mother's shout

(Chorus 1)
There's no way I can turn back time
To prepare you for nature's crime
I watch as lives are shaken apart
I feel your bleeding hearts
Your bleeding hearts
I feel your heart

(V2)
Death smiles with its golden key
Taking lives lost in debris
Wrapped in sheets, undignified
Loved ones search but more will die
The touch of a friend, a stranger's hand
A shoulder to lean on so you can stand

(Chorus)
There's no way I can turn back time
To prepare you for nature's crime
I watch as lives are shaken apart
I feel your bleeding hearts
I feel your hearts

(Bridge)
There'll be no smile or laughter tonight
Families torn apart without a fight
A country in tears
What is the cost
So many lives
So many lost

Instrumental

(Chorus)
There's no way I can turn back time
To prepare you for nature's crime
I watch as lives are shaken apart
I feel your bleeding hearts
Your bleeding hearts
Your bleeding heart

(Outro)
Looking for answers
Among the decay
Where do I (you) look
When life's taken away
When I've (you've) lost everything
That's precious and warm
Where do I (you) look after the storm

  • Forget Simon Cowell and these famous artists doing a song to keep themselves in the public eye! This beats it hands down - real music by real musicians! Five stars!

  • Thank you very much for all kind comments.

I am sure Mr Cowell will also do what he can to make sure donations are collected to help the victims.

All efforts are good and every penny counts, whether it be from a big media intense effort with well-known artists or a small expression of compassion through music from amateurs like us. The important thing is that whatever money generated ends up helping the people of Haiti.

    Rock On

  • Super performances and video editing job. obviously a lot of care went into this to produce a very moving musical collage. A very worthy song.

  • @OneEyedHorse Thank You so much (on the behalf of all). Isn't it amazing what people can do when they let their heart lead them? We all were very moved by the tragic news in Haiti, and felt compelled to help.. somehow....

  • Is this part of Simon Cowell's Charity Album? Great job everyone. If not, maybe Simon should take a look at this ... bet he would be interested in using this to help raise funds for Haiti. It's very original and I think it's great that you guys wrote this specifically for the cause and not just pull a song out of your hat. Kudoos.
