The actual funeral of the 'Unknown Soldier' after WW1 .A tree is felled from the grounds of Hampton Palace. It is made into a coffin of English Oak. Fixed atop is a 16th century crusaders sword, taken from the Tower of London.

A British soldier, unknown by name or rank, is exhumed from the battlefields of World War 1.

In France 1000 school children form a mile long procession in front of his coffin.
In England a King and Country wait to honour him. A cenotaph is unveiled to him and all the glorious dead.

Lest we forget.

  • We have to guard ourselves against over indulgence. If you look closely at this remarkable film, you will notice how reverent the soldiers are...as in the careful spreading of the Union Jack over the coffin. They are making a conscious effort not to intrude. As we watch neither should we, by use of Trade mark monkeys or modern popular music."

  • The poor men, little more than kids. Sent off to fight for the greatest nation on earth. They did us proud. The UK lives on as a free country only thanks to the sacrifice of our granfathers. And Muslim terroists think they destroy our country by bombing london? They dont know what are fighting against. I will happily die to preserve the freedom of Britain and her people.

  • @B10NICBURITO Did I say they did?

  • @Lewi008 Terrorists don't have to be muslims.

  • God love the Brits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ....the story behind ours is so poignant, the devotion to duty with the sentinals in USA is incredible........just to think, that even now, there is a guard, protecting the tomb, making the 21 steps, 21 seconds pause...............we both know how to look after our lost...........we buried him with kings, America decided he would be protected until he is known............75 yrs later he still has a permanent guard..............

  • I've watched this loads of times (most weekends) in the last year,......up to about a month ago it had 10k views, now its got 15k..........I'm sure this is due to armistice day....however, all the comments are the same......."just seen this and blown away", e.t.c. ........, the reality is other countries have since copied this, but this was the original.......I would suggest watching America's unknown soldier.............

  • that was soooo poignant and touchin......xx

  • When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today

  • How sad to see this remarkable film, it does bring it home to you about the horrors of war and how many innocent young people never return, and you could say, that all this and more, has been, or is caused by politicians!!!!

  • and to think I once saw tourists walk over this grave, as a Soldier I stopped them and asked the Dean of Westminster why this can happen... Lest we forget our mortality.

  • The modern day music and the monkey spoilt what was an excellent film.
