Plot

From the Pulitzer Prize winning novel called, "The Bridge at No Gun Ri: A Hidden Nightmare from the Korean War" the film entitled, "A Little Pond (2009)" is a story of the massacre of innocent South Korean civilians by US forces joined by novice re-enforcements from Tokyo, during the very early stages of the Korean War of 1950 to 1953, the details of which had been covered up for 50 years. The film portrays the events that take place involving South Koreans going about their day unsuspecting of the horrible tragedy to unfold. One scene shows young people readying for an upcoming singing contest. The North Koreans are pushing the US army to the south with heavy energy. As the battle nears the town of Joguri, the US army orders approximately 500 villagers of all ages from the town to flee for their lives. They do as commanded, settling in makeshift camps along the way, believing they are under full protection of the US army. Without warning, they stumble upon a group of soldiers from the 7th Cavalry who order them onto adjacent train tracks were they are stripped of their "weapons." US air force planes then swoop down on the people strafing and bombing the group just before they reach Nogun-ri, killing many indiscriminately. The ground forces, made to suspect enemy soldiers from North Korea are hiding among the refugees, open fire on the remaining survivors of the air raid. As few as 25 survivors escape the tragedy to tell the tale. Thanks to great journalistic efforts and the generous time of many more, the story that had been covered up for 50 years has now been revealed.

  • i want to know more.. why this happen?.. are there any documentary edition about this case...

  • How did that happen??

  • Well, some Americans who commit war crimes are prosecuted. Calley was. Some have been convicted of war crimes in Iraq and the three now on trial for murder in Afghanistan will probably be convicted. This is at least a better record than that of Islamic terrorists, for what that is worth.

  • @hwarang05 I agreed. Whoever order this should be tried and have them put to death but i guess most of them died already. Unlike no gun ri, My lai William Calley was convicted out of 26 soldier charged because they were forced to shooting 521 after being told they were communist. Turns out they were wrong. Many 26 soldiers ended up getting discharged. But not all us Americans are like the commies. NK and VC did the same shit to US POWs and allied civilians as well. They haven't apologized.

  • Why won’t America admit to their war crimes? No Gun Ri, MyLai…we put war criminals from other countries on trail, yet we won’t fairly convict Americans who perpetuate crimes on civilian populations. For some reason we justify murder of civilians by Americans soldiers and Marines as self-defense and preservation. Who are we as Americans to be both judge and executioners of people and conscience? America needs to be acountable.

  • @JosunMaum

it is true- you can find info of its details online.

  • thanks.... true story- all factual. The US govt. did indeed issue orders for its pilots to strafe refugee columns- the 'excuse' being to dissuade N.Korean agents mingling into S.Korean refugee columns

  • Great movie.. but sorry -- I am very skeptical of this incident and the movie portrayal left me with even more doubt.

  • where can I watch this?
