Depression, Bipolar & Anxiety Recovery Be Inspired By Wellness 5

In this edition of Inspired By Wellness, Grace interviews Anna Miller, founder of The Depression Project about the depression project, recovery and mental health issues like depression, bipolar & anxiety.

Is being diagnosed with depression or bipolar really mean becoming a life long consumer of psychiatry and psychotropic drugs or is recovery really possible?

  • Bipolar & Schizophrenia are the result of chemical imbalances in the brain. These people in this video spoke many words but really said nothing of any value at all. Their website is also pathetic, too much flowery talk & no answers to relevant questions.

  • There are a couple of good documentaries online, but I unfortunately can't recall the names.

I'm not denying that people need help; I certainly needed help in those days. What I'm against is baseless drugging.

A psychiatrist prescribes drugs after about 30 minutes (at most) of questioning. There are absolutely not tests to determine whether or not there is indeed a chemical imbalance. What these pills do is tamper with brain chemistry.

  • P.S *** THUMBS DOWN WAS IN ERROR. WHEN I WAS GOING TO REPLY I GOOFED--- THEN DID NOT KNOW HOW TO chg back.----Sorry- Feel free to Feel.

  • Perhaps after the judgement you may hear that Anna is nurturing doing something about it besides being dependent on a pill or doing nothing .

  • No, doesnt seem to pleasant lol... But that was the schools fault. And the psychiatrist.. I'm sure there are some good ones out there.... But who knows... Some sorta hardcore documentry needs to be made about mental illness and psychiatry... The good and the bad.. And throw some scientology in there as well. exuse my spelling... its very shitty.... Something needs to be done.. i dont think psychiatry is as crazy as people make it out to be... its all about trying to get a person back to normal

  • Quite simply, drugs were imposed on me at around the age of seven. I was raised in a very dysfunctional household, and thus acted out in school. The school basically forced my parents into taking me to a psychiatrist (no attempts at therapy of family counseling were made) I was immediately put on about four or so different drugs and was forced into a children's psychiatric hospital, wherein I was subjected to even more drugging. Does that seem pleasant to you? I was lucky; others had it worse.

  • what did the drugs do to you that are so bad?... and who unwillingly made you do it? couldnt be that bad

  • It may not be important to you, but these drugs have been known to cause considerable and in some cases irrevocable damage. I know from first hand experience. Come to me after you have been unwillingly drugged for nearly a decade and tell me that this is not a serious matter. It is this sort of flippant disregard for truth that hurts so many people.

  • It doesnt matter... Its far more legit to give someone medication, THEN to just sit around and doing nothing about it... Get over it.. Quit crying about it... Its no big deal... lol

  • The issue is not that medication is evil; it is that psychiatric drugs are not based on empirical evidence. There is simply no evidence that verifies the claims made by the manufacturers of these drugs. In other words, it is purely speculative. Imagine if you went to a physician for a consultation and, after about 15 minutes of questioning, he declares that you have cancer and require aggressive chemotherapy. This is essentially what modern psychiatrists do: they prescribe drugs without testing.
