@000red000 It's not the unions company, nor yours. The company should have a choice as to your hours & pay & you have the choice whether to accept that amount. The company will be glad to pay you more if you do a good job, but shouldn't have to pay you more merely because the union negotiated this for everyone at one time. Those who don't do a good job shouldn't have any extras & shouldn't be able to ride your shirt tales. If you work hard, you should be rewarded, not the guy sleeping in the truck

IT'S A FREE COUNTRY. PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO ORGANIZE.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS IF I DON'T JOIN THE UNION I CAN'T WORK. WHERE'S THE FREEDOM THERE? WHAT'S WORSE IS I HAVE TO PAY DUES FOR SOMETHING I DON'T AGREE WITH. I HAVE TO PAY OR I DON'T WORK. TO ME THAT'S EXTORTION. THEY SUPPORT CAMPAIGNS FOR PEOPLE I DON'T LIKE -- WITH MY MONEY. EG: OBAMORON (SEIU PROUDLY CLAIMS TO BE PROGRESSIVE). TELL ME NOW, WHERE'S THE FREEDOM IN UNIONS?

Say what you want about Unions. Union workers make up to 11 to 14% more than the average employee. Plus they are not at will employees. Without a contract the "Boss" has the right to do WHATEVER he wants and you will have no recourse. On Monday you can be hired for 10 an hr and by Friday if the employer feels like changing it to 8 an hr, he CAN. This and would not even be breaking the law. So for me, I would sign up for the Tinkerbell Union rather than having no representation at all.

That was a hundred years ago. Unions are nothing but political thugs who suck money off of the workers and the workers are those who can't compete in the open market place.
-
what an asshole thing to say. the unions are what made work safe. they pushed for equality and fair pay. you owe a debt of gratitude to these people.
-
In a country where anyone can start their own business unions are for the dumb and lazy.

Unions make me sick. They begin with lofty ideals, but descend into thuggery with remarkable consistency and rapidity.
