Welcome to the club! I was convinced that I was on a one man crusade here in the UK. What a nice thing to say about Beverly.

The dress is as memorable as the performance. It was her decision to take the song at this tempo. And it makes such a difference in its impact.

I could watch and listen to this woman all day.

Beverly sounds so "Viennese"- I spent a week with her at her La Scala debut and then later at dinner in LA- as a not-too-educated opera fan, she was wonderful company.
She did insist that the scrim be removed for her big aria- she couldn't see the conductor (Tommy Schippers) and she looked "hazy" from the front rows as we watched the rehearsals.
I will miss her muchly, but she knew when to quit. Thanks, Youtube and beverlysills.
