Mr S Iswaran, Minister in Prime Minister's Officer and 2nd Minister for Home Affairs on the Next Generation Frontline Policing Model.
The Singapore Police Force is developing the Next Generation Frontline Policing model that allows frontline resources to be more nimble, focused and responsive in fighting crime and at the same time, deeply engage the community. The focus will be on three key areas:
1. Neighbourhood Police Centres will be transformed to bring stronger crime-fighting capabilities to the ground
2. The existing Community Liaison team within each NPC will be expanded to further strengthen their rapport with the community through a more coordinated and effective engagement strategy.
3. SPF will further leverage upon technology to fight crime and serve residents. CCTV networks will be gradually extended to cover public places such as the key entry and exit points of all HDB blocks and multi-storey car parks to fight and deter crime.
As this will be a major initiative requiring considerable resources, implementation of the model will be launched in phases after next year's Workplan Seminar and is expected to take between 3 to 5 years to complete.
