I have discovered AdventureCraft, a Minecraft Mod which turns Notch's ideas of adventure mode into reality, and I'm deeply in love with it. There have been some great maps already made for AdventureCraft, but I feel the potential has barely even scratched the tip of the iceberg. The potential to create ingenous puzzles, cinematics, and great gameplay while pushing the limits of the engine is something I really want to tap into! "The Legend of Steve: Nether Isle" is my attempt in making a memorable story with wonderful gameplay that feels very balanced and well paced. Granted this will take quite a while to fully realize, but I plan to release a demo once I get halfway done. The story is a zelda like adventure with a more minecraft-ian feel to it. I've only worked on it for 4 days so far, so this is what I have. I'm continuing to grasp being efficient at my redstone/trigger wiring to lessen the load on the number of things I have so far, but I'm really liking the progress it's going. The potential for storage blocks (saves an area of blocks and can recall it when triggered) is enormous! Each dungeon (this is not a real dungeon. That was a "tutorial" dungeon to get basic maneuver mechanics down) will have a mini-boss and a boss. The bosses will actually be scripted blocks, but they will behave like they're attacking you. Defeating them will require some ingenious way to damage them. It's quite the challenge to create certain bosses, but it can be done (easier than a CPU). Again, this is just 4 days of work. This may or may not be what it looks like in the demo or final version. Any comments, suggestions, whatever is welcome! =)

  • So I was looking around for some maps on the adventurecraft wiki, clicked on yours thinking it was going to be another crappy 1 dungeon map, but boy was I wrong. The obstacle course dungeon you made looks magnificent and it looks like you really put some work into it. I certainly can't wait until your map is finished. One suggestion though, when you go talk to someone set some sort of storage block trigger so that you can't skip talking to them and just go straight to the last guy.

  • @Theadetorical Thanks. It's only a start but I hope to get it to be really awesome. As for potential skipping of NPC characters, there's already a system that makes you have to go to each one before the door opens.

  • Hey, man

    Awsome work!

    I have two questions:

    1. How do you make the blocks move?

    2. I ca't get my camera's to work, but I've made camera checkpoints.

    Can you please answer?

  • @tomguyman 1. Block Storage + redstone wiring.

    2. You have to select a camera block, then add checkpoints. Trigger the camera block to activate it.

  • Yeah it looks really good except maybe like.

Its wierd how you get to the end of the tunnell at the end and the blocks all dissapear. It doesn't make sence so its confusing. And having all of the "Go see..." is kinda weird maybe they need you to do a simple task then they say go see so and so. I dunno but it was really good puzzle wise

  • @Anbrad43 I haven't put any sound or music in. The dirt deforming is trying to represent a living forest that shapes the land, sort of like in FF5 with the great elder tree. The multiple people (and this was when I started using AdventureCraft for the first time) was a way to force people to walk around the whole town, lol. Town's not going to be important, so yeah.
