  • Hello,

How quiet is this engine? Does it run rough?

    Thanks

  • I think this former (96-08 approx) version of DF9.9 4 strokes Suzuki engine is the quietest of all 9.9 HP available on the market. This is why I choose it, based on some reviews I found on the web. Engine displacement for this DF9.9 is 302 cc (18.4 cu. in.); I think its the biggest displacement for a 9.9 HP, allowing a low 4500 RPM to get max power 9.9 HP. The same engine block is used on Suzuki 15 HP. DF9.9 is like a detuned DF15 with a different camshaft and lower RPM range among others.

  • I have two interchangeable propellers. Usually, I install a low pitch propeller for jobs like towing a wake boarder requiring high torque. So the engine operates in a proper RPM range and does not seem overloaded.
