Hoult's character had killed about two or three men in scalping (!) attacks. at the end he is shot and wounded by Branagh at as Hoult attempts to kill an ex-police officer.
the reason he is killing is on behalf of his sister and some friends, because a group of men (including all the murder victims) were part of a paedophile ring that were raping these young girls; the father of Hoult's character was the fixer for this group, IIRC. great telly.
