You should use a wired mouse. If you want some wireless get a wireless rounter. Also look into some solar panels.

Exactly my experience with Magic Mouse and an 8 core MacPro. Massive fail on Apple's part and I am surprised how bad it is and that it's been nearly two years now, and no fix yet.
