Team Honey Badger chasers Mark 'Storm' Farnik and Zach Young documented an EF3 tornado that struck Norton County, KS on June 20, 2011 for over twelve minutes of its life cycle. This clip is the best two minutes of the tornado's life cycle, when it became nearly stationary in a field just north of Kansas Highway 383. Time of the video was between 2:44 and 2:46 p.m. CDT, six miles west/southwest of Long Island, KS.

  • @catrinadavid Does Bob Dole actually live there.....or just lease the place out to a neighbor? I thought he lived closer to Hays. Thanks.

  • Also if there is anyone out there that has footage just a little farther east between 2:44 and 2:51 i am trying to locate footage of the home we were living in on the north side of the road by the county line being destroyed by the tornado. i was in the basement with my 4 kids when the tornado took our house and barn.

  • @TressieMcReynolds the farm they go by 20 second into the video is Bob Dole's home. it move his home about 10 ft.off the foundation and took out his big metal barn/building across the road. this tornado was just alittle east of Almena. my husband watched it from the elevator.

  • Were you able to get more video of this tornado as it moved east?

  • Specifically, this tornado crossed just South of Dole's then crossed the prairie dog just east of the road. My Grandmother's farm is where it crossed the prairie dog. It then crossed the highway and took out that farm house just north of the highway.

  • long island is my home town..... and this was more like 2-3 miles west of almeana kansas cuz i recognize the fam on north side of road..

  • That was only about 20-30 minutes away from my home town. Good lord...

  • Nice. Glad it was in open fields.

  • That is a sweet video. I was 4 or so miles east of it unloading a truck load of fuel when I shot my videos. That was not something that I expected to see that day. I am glad I had my camera with me though.

  • @ashgeb Yep, that's where we were. This was on the ground about 1 mile NE of Almena
