You said that this is an alright laptop for 'light video work' So, does that mean that any kind of youtube video making is out of the picture? I generally make vlogs and sometimes music videos, and short films. If I would do them in HD, would that be pushing this computer's limits?

I have the late 2006 one (the first with a core 2 duo). I like it, even though I probably wont get the next OS. Mine has taken quite the beating. The palmrest has more cracked spaces at the front than not. I also need to replace my fan :P

concerning the splinter on your MacBooks palm rest its a known fault. If you take it along to Apple they may replace it as they have done with mine 3 times

I have the same MacBook and had the same problem with the keyboard. Apple have actually identified these editions of Macs as having faulty casing. They are happy to replace the keyboard free of charge even if your Apple Care package has ran out.
