I am from chennai. You can use the Call Taxis instead. You can pre-book the taxi and they give you a rough estimate before the ride (after the ride, it may not differ by +/- 20 Rupees - about 50 cents). But get a trustworthy local(preferably the guys at the hotel) to book the call taxi for you cos they dont understand english.!!!

you may think i m anti-indian, i m not. i m just a realist. indians have brains...we invented numbers (arithmetic - place value, decimal, base 10), calculus, language (sanksrit is the mother of all european languages...german, english, etc). we invented philosophy (which later came to greeks), chess, schooling system, 1st medicine (ayurveda/yoga)...hey i don't get it where were we the past 600 years when europeans started overtaking us?
