@MrRollo67 The other guy is "barring " the engine over with the cocks open to expel any moisture which may have condensed in it while standing still. Water and large diesels do not mix.

@gjhgjh No, this is just to turn the crank for lubrication. To start the engine they let compressed air out of big bottles into the cylinders
