A perfect song for floating away to on a lazy summer afternoon

Written by Mathew Priest & Nigel Clark

From the 1996 album 'Free Peace Sweet' (originally produced for, but ultimately not included on, their 1994 album 'Homegrown')

Having lived in Hounslow myself, I can vouch, somewhat tactfully, that this song is one of the most beautiful things ever to come out of there.

Also, as a man who appreciates a decent pun, gotta love that album title!

  • @MySeltaeb I can't match that but V99 was a fantastic time. Manics, Kula Shaker, James Brown, Supergrass, Beautiful South...

  • @drenn63. Lucky you - I was at Glastonbury 1994 BUT i didn't see Oasis. Saw Blur though and Ian Macnabb with Crazy Horse, Glen Tilbrook too. And the Bootleg Beatles. And smoked far too much weed .... And saw Stone Roses at Reading in Dec 1995, they still had itm even then.

  • @MySeltaeb Too right! I was lucky enough to see all of these live too, height of my gig going, inc. Glastonbury 95 and 97. Still some good British bands around, Coldplay, Keane, Maccabees, High Flying Birds to name a few, but not a golden era like that.

  • @drenn63. I'll never forget it - Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Pulp, Suede, Dodgy, The Stone Roses (Second Coming!), Radiohead, Elastica etc. There was an explosion of brilliant English pop and I loved it. For me, it was the Beatles/Stones/Kinks era but in my lifetime (tho not as good as them but still getting quite close).

This was a great song from that era.

  • One I keep returning to this; Britpop seems to have been rather forgotten by many apart from Blur and Oasis but there were some really good songs.

  • :0)

  • one of the best songs of the 90s for me!! classic :O)

  • I think the Beatles would have been proud of this one, had it been one of theirs.
