Upgraded system to 2GB of RAM. Installed slightly modified version of Windows 7 to fit on the 4 GB SSD. Windows automatically installed drivers for everything except video and Asus ACPI drivers. The system still needs some tweaking but is running well. After installing Adobe Reader and Firefox, there is about 430 MB free on the SSD. I plan on further slimming this installation of Windows in the future.

  • Wow! Super fast. I love Windows 7 and Xp. How much ram?

  • @trin20t I think it was 2 GB in this video.

  • thanks mate,do you know if there is a light edition of windows 7 that I can dowload? cause I do not have a lot of knowledge in removing programs/files out of operating system

  • @Winneropoulos If you do a search on Google or whatever, you should be able to find info on several light versions of 7.

  • what is the type of memory that is installed by the factory?ddr1?DDR1?DDR2?DDR3?Is it easy to change it myself? I have only 500Mb memory :-(

How much space does windows 7 take in the hard disk?

  • @Winneropoulos 512MB DDR2-667. Windows 7 took about 3 GB...but it was the Starter edition that I had removed many programs/files from.

heres a fast 700 mb version of Lite WIN7!

  • @HDMan896 ¿?

  • @KoToCoNDoR

How to install asus ACPI and video card drivers on Windows 7?

Step 1: Download XP version video card and ACPI driver. (or use the CD)

Step 2: Run it in compatibility mode (Windows XP).

    Step 3: Install!

It works for me. Volume change with Fn keys and Aero (because the 64MB VRam) don't work.

  • non windows let me install it... all says they need more than 4g of hdd..... HELP!

  • So, whatever magic you had to use to make Win7 fit on a 4gb HDD , despite that, is it worth it? Meaning - have you noticed any performance increase by using windows 7 instead of Xp ? I just ordered a PCI-E 32GB SSD for my 701, and pondering the idea if I want to install Win7? But it seems that Win7 would Kill the CPU in terms of Resources needed. It seems to be running somwhat smooth on urs, but overall, Im undecided if Win7 is the right OS for this Machine>? Any comments on that??

  • @trin20t hi. i got a asus Eee pc 701 sd and have no windowns on it. how can i install the windowns 7 on notebook by usb but also i need to know as well how can i put the windowns on use 2 . sorry guys and i hope someone can help me. thanks

  • i need your help man, something wrong wwith my keyboard, is it fix'able??? how much it will cost me??

  • @Winneropoulos I use an external 80 Gb hard that connects trough USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Cable Adapter. I have also upgreaded the Ram to 2GB 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2. I've had some video lagging problems due to his GPU. All small laptops overheat, so use a cooler pad when you can. Its a great tool to have as a netbook, easy to use and carry around everywhere. I have installed on it Ron_s_TinyXP_image_for_Aspire_One and its working great!
