@STRTRR I think you mean 31

Sounded like 89 wasn't even "working" coming past Groff's either, the safety was blowing.

Strasburg does use radios...and this may be due to the fact the train was too long for the run-around. Note the combine on the rear, it's usually right behind the power on the return run. Looks like they had to add this on at the last munute. Sounds like 31 isn't even "working" while passing Groff's.Not sure, maybe 31 can't handle more than 8 coaches returning either.

I loved the part with the horse and buggy :) You really have out done yourself with this video

Thanks for this. Superb film of a terrific event. One correction though: This is not a "push-pull" operation. Rather it is a pusher operation. Push-pull uses one locomotive. Opposite movements are controlled from a cab in the car of the then-leading end of the train.
Passenger trains WERE usually double-headed in the steam era to prevent accident if the lead engine stopped suddenly and the rear engine kept pushing. In today's regulatory environment, this move may have been illegal.

A push pull is more rare.
Plus this setup means they don't have to worry about running around
