Yugoslavia used to be cool but now we are a bunch of crappy little states, puppets for the EU and the rest of the world to play with... It's a shame we couldn't get along...

I too tend to believe that Yugoslavia was not powerful by itself, no matter how much I love the idea of begin born 30 years earlier.

@lastplacewin wrong, yugoslavia was strong because USA and USSR made it strong. After the collapse of the iron curtain, there was no need for yugoslavia to exist. In the 80`s the financing of yugoslavia stopped because USSR was in economic collapse and it was obvious it would soon disintegrate. USA stopped sending money to Yugoslavia because it didn`t need to excercise any pressure towards the USSR.Without US funding yugoslavian so-called economy and financial "market" crashed.

Yugoslavia breaking apart was the best thing for the USA and EU politicians. Now really is impossible to join the EU for any of the small nations. They were threatened because Yugoslavia today would be one of the strongest countries in Europe - not lie.

@junkybabes The West maintained that artificial "country" with loans for decades. The West was against break-up of Yugoslavia in 1991. Western powers favoured creation of Yugoslavia in 1918 and then also favoured "soft" Communist Yugoslavia, from 1945 on, as a bulwark against a more hardcore variety of Communism then prevalnet in the so-called Eastern Block. The very existence of Yugoslavia was the result of West's sticking its nose into the area and not the other way around.
