Based on an actual strike against the Empire Zinc Mine in New Mexico, examining the prejudice against the Mexican-American workers, who went on strike to receive the same wages and dignity of Anglo miners. In the end, the workers and their families realize that prejudice and poor treatment are not always imposed by outside forces. This film was written, directed and produced by members of the original "Hollywood Ten," who were blacklisted for refusing to answer Congressional inquiries on First Amendment grounds.

  • Ironic that this true left wing film, made by a blacklisted director who had to go to jail for his opinions ends up on youtube on a copyright free channel that insults its message by inserting stupid commercials into it every 15 minutes? Aaah, USA....

  • Thanks for uploading. More Americans need to see this great film. We need more like this. Hollywood is manipulation-- a guide to consumerism and obscurantism. Down with the corporate way of life! Stand with the working class for peace and enlightenment.

  • LOL YOU JUST SAVED MY BUTT IN MY CHICANO STUDIES CLASS LOL XD

  • this is boring

  • @MartiniandCigarettes I know it's not quite the point, but firefox with adblock can fix that problem.

  • Wish I could give this film 50 thumbs up. An amazing classic that needs to be seen by everyone.

  • Organa (organa.com) created a special edition DVD containing the film in its entirety (restored from the best version on film available), containing the story of the making of the film, the filmmakers and their lives and works before the film, the strike it's based upon, and many original photographs donated by ordinary Silver City citizens from that time. It also is the only source of The Hollywood Ten film in its entirety.

  • Thank You for uploading!!! i've been looking for this all over! behind every strong man is an even stronger woman.

  • amazing movie...ALL latinos need to see this.

  • Great movie that was ahead of its time. Seen it about 10 times and still enjoy it.
