The Drop The Rock Rally occured outside of Governor Paterson's Office on 3rd Ave b/w 40th and 41st Streets on March 25, 2009. The rally was organized by those supporting the repeal of the Rockefeller Drug Laws in New York State.
Article 19 Films was on the scene supporting the cause and raising awareness about our feature documentary LOCKDOWN, USA, which chronicles hip-hop impresario Russell Simmon's campaign to reform the Rockefeller Drug Laws.

Of course Russell is an icon and a figurehead for this movement and his ability to reach a huge contingency is paramount in gaining the press needed for change of this type. If you watch the trailer and the film you'll see that the filmmakers take the time to cover the grassroots work done to make a "Rockerfeller Drug Law's" free NY a reality.
Also, proceeds from the DVD sales are being donated to the DPA (Drug Policy Alliance) who was a partner on this film.
Thanks for your comments,

Wanted to point out that Russel Simmons is being used as an icon ..the People are the ones pushing this campaign..please remember to keep that upfront and any proceeds from Lockdown USA should be giving back to the community to continue on with their greasroots organizing efforrt..there are no lone soldiers in this movement
