I believe he is suing. The Courts have repeatedly upheld signature requirements, but because the Illinois law has a signature that fluctuates wildly, it presents a different issue.

Alan should contact David Kalbfleisch as well, who is the rejected Green Party candidate for the same district, get support signatures and endorsement from them as well? Also contact the Nader campaign. Ron Paul got support from Greens as well.

Is there a Libertarian running in the district? Alan Stevo may contact Bob Barr - who is a lawyer -and Bruce Fein and Glenn Greenwald for legal advice as well as ballot drive? Maybe he could run as a Libertarian or Constitutional Party member or get their endorsements as an Independent, and they may get more petitions also?

Political Parties are private organizations who are granted the privilege of less stringent ballot access requirements. It violates Art IV Sec 4 of the U.S. Const, Amendment 14 of the U.S. Const, as well as Art. I, Sections 2 and 23 of the Ill. Const.
Because a political party is an association of private individuals, Illinois is in effect compelling aspiring legislators to affiliate with private individuals. This is unconstitutional and democracy (not republicanism) at work.
