and yeah looping a melody is a form of sampling! but i personally would never do it no matter how sick the sample is! its like taking the easy way out in my eyes. i would rather chop it up and make my own version of it.

you have that statement a bit twisted my dude! sampling LOOPS requires the ability to recognize good music BUT..... sampling a song that sucks and chopping the sounds up into individual sounds then re arranging them into something that has that head nodding factor to it THEN adding more sounds sampled from other instruments THEN adding a bassline and drums takes more then a musical performance bro!! think about it man!

these guys want money? it's a sound. just because you made a sound doesn't mean you own it. if i sampled president obama speaking and used it to make a hit song, would i owe him money? i like these artists that we all sample from, but they don't need any more money. we shouldn't even sell songs for money. that whole idea is fucked. we should sell tickets for concerts.
