My departure date for my 8 month Latin America trip has been delayed a couple of days. I have some modifications that need to be made before I leave, and I do an overview of what modifications I have already made.

  • how are u funding ur trip? took time off from work?

  • @solimiansky Funding is from my own savings, and I quit my job to make time.

  • oooh broke down and got the VIO!

  • @britex3186 I know :)

  • That seat looks so uncomfortable for this long trip you're planning.

  • @pch0mey It's comfy for me. Was fine for a 5,000 trip I took last year.

  • chances are you will have a safe trip with no problems, but just in case you make the wrong turn,a really good GPS,no cheapo's.

  • I like the way those Pelican cases look . The way you mounted them was ingenious using the wires to hold the cases was smart. I have some 50mm ammo cans mounted on my DR with a frame that I welded myself, it works fairly well, but I like your setup much better. Less bulky and better aesthetics.

Nice job and good planning. If you ever get back into WV give me a shout and we'll go trail riding.

  • looks very uncomfortable and way over packed...I just dont think I would enjoy taking that piece of crap, overloaded, unstable two wheeler to the grocery store....let alone 6 months through the Americas

  • i'm in south america what is your route? also you might wan to consider to put a padlock in your cases cause there is no way peolple won't steal your stuff if you don't have any locks

  • You have big ba.....s

Wish you luck and keep us posted!!

  • What year is the KLR?

How many miles are on the KLR now?

  • Have fun, Atlas. I can't wait to see the vids from the trip. Apologies if you addressed this in another vid or comment, but do you speak any Spanish?

  • Hey, good luck on your trip. Don't worry about setting a date too much. I ended up leaving 6 months after my original date. Looks like you have everything in order. Have fun and stay safe!

If you need any info on Mexico feel free to ask, I returned recently from mainland Mexico. Also, stay out of Mexico City. Long story but police are stopping non-Mexican's. They got Scott Brady, a few others and myself. $5000 pesos fine...no bueno.

  • Hey Atlasrider im excited to see your updates as me and a friend want to use the klr650 for our ghengis khan trek from mongolia to russia, i wish you a safe trip have fun and most of all keep your head up and take care.

  • are you riding alone ? and do you think that the KLR will hold, have change consumable parts like oil filters etc?
