official anthem of the QAZAQ SSR / Гимн Казахской ССР

[ Sorry comedy fans, this has nothing to do with Borat/Jean Girard/whomever that dude is playing this week ;-) ]

This song served as the anthem of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (Казахская Советская Социалистическая Республика) when it was part of the USSR. The actual music was composed by Mukan Tulebayev, Evgeny Brusilovsky, & Latif Khamidi; the lyrics were written by Abdilda Tazhibaev, Kh. Mukhamedzhanov and Gabit Musrepov.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the melody of this anthem continued to be used for the national hymn of Kazakhstan, but of course different lyrics were adopted. That song was used from 1992 until 2006, when Kazakhstan selected a song with a different melody as its national air: „MEIN KASACHSTAN".

This particular audio recording was made by the Brass Band of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of War in 1968; the conductor was N. Nazarov. It is a short instrumental version of the anthem, without any vocals.
