Angel Falls Base Jump-freefall only

3220 feet above a river valley in Venezuela, Angel Falls is a must do for skydivers and base jumpers. The receding cliff wall, and wide cathedral removes the immediate danger of a cliff strike or off heading opening ,but it's the tiny rocky landing area that's the big challenge.

It's a skydiving rig, with a pd218, and a reserve. It was borrowed, so the fit wasn't great...and jumping in a t shirt...well, it wasn't my best track, but even with that cross, I got plenty of clearance from the wall. It was only 11 seconds.

That camera angle makes it look like I'm just floating at the end...but at that point, I'm actually doing 100mph...falling around 160ft. per minute...no soft landing without a parachute.

You can't Base Jump from a Helicopter. Jumping out of a Helicopter with a parachute is called sky diving. BASE jumping, Is jumping from a Bridge, Antenna, Structure, or Earth, thus BASE.

So were you using a twin-canopy BASE container like a sorcerer, or skydiving gear?

Got a bit nervous watching that jump, never jumped there but I like to track an awfully long way away on big walls if I can. Only ever done a few base jumps in my life thus far though, and those were in kjerag on one of the overhung sections - two tracking suit jumps and one in my PF shadow wingsuit.
