two things made me kinda laugh here. the sounds and the name of the book.

Hmm, what an interesting concept. I think I will put my next amateur radio project in a book.

just a modified baby 10, i had an oscillator and LFO i'd housed in an encyclopedia case and i thought it would be neat to house the sequencer in the actual encyclopedia. Here's to spontaneous consensual creation ideas! =)

Which sequencer design did you use?

did you cut a square from the pages and glue the rest shut?

Pretty much. I didn't glue the edges yet, but I plan to.

how do you learn how what parts of the circuit do that and or those just pots?

There's an excellent description of the CD40106 chip that is the heart of this circuit in the Nicholas Collins book Handmade Electronic Music. He explains how to use that chip to make an oscillator and talks a little about chaining them together. Working from there, I fussed around with values and placements of the various components. The relationship between the value of the capacitor and the value of the pot makes a big differnce. Also, the voltage drop goes a long way.
