Fun tune by the Washboard Rhythm Kings on Vocalion 1732 recorded during the productive WRK session of December 14, 1932 (12 sides recorded during that session!).

  • Actually, I'm not sure if it's the grit as much as it is the "unfiltered mastering" technique I use. A lot of CD's of 78 recordings have a fair amount of noise filtering which tends to muddy or remove some of the music. I put these through an equalizer with an "acoustic" curve to better bring out some of the tones, but no noise filter.

  • Thanks for posting this. I will have to keep my eyes open for these guys.

  • Thanks for uploading this. I love this song and this version of it. I like the grit and skips generally in music of this era, but find this a little too heavy on them, sorry.

  • the skips and grit make it sound so much better. screw cd's!
