LEVEL 7: The Kraken's Lair

OBJECTIVES: * Defeat the Kraken * Recover the third fragment of the Mirror of Dreams.

The Kraken is one of the tougher bosses in the game if you don't know what you're doing. The general rule is to take your time; don't rush when you don't have to.

Anyway, when the level starts out, immediately swim to the left side of the room and climb onto the land. Pick up the Super Speargun, two Demolition Charges, the Oxygen Tank, and some ammo. Drop back into the water.

The Kraken attacks indirectly by getting his jellyfish minions to latch onto you and pull you in. The more jellyfish grab onto you, the more easily you'll be pulled in. If they pull you in enough, the Kraken will eat you. Don't let them get close enough to stick themselves on you. By holding the R1 button while facing the Kraken, you'll target any jellyfish automatically.

When there isn't a pressing threat of jellyfish, focus your speargun fire on the Kraken itself. Shoot at the red/orange eyes that form a ring around the mouth. If you hurt a couple of them at once, the Kraken will retreat. Use this time to act. Go up to the one of the four pillars near where the Kraken was. Plant an explosive on one and get out of the way. Surface to catch your breath while you wait for the charge to explode.

After destroying two pillars, climb back out to where you got the first two charges to get two more. Destroying the last two pillars will end the level.

If you need ammo, there are some extra bolts near the pillars to the right and left underwater. Search the floor for them. If you ever desperately need air or ammo, don't be afraid to spend the time when the Kraken is retreated to recuperating.

All in all, be sure to keep an eye on your air, your ammo, and nearby jellyfish at all times. Make these your top priority, and planting the charges your second priority. If you neglect any of these, you will be put in a situation that can only lead to death.

i hate this part of the game it just gets me angry! and when i play a lot more of those yellow things come for me and indy has a lame shot.
