Here are the outtakes for this number (bottom image, shown at the 1983 premiere of the restored film) matched to the released takes (top image, found shortly after the premiere).

  • @boinx

I have a real problem with this video !

There are only two ways to vote -- "Like" or "Dislike" -- and yet for something this cool there should be a more accurate button ... like "LOVED IT !" ... or "AMAZING !" ... or "BRAVO !"

Thanks for both brightening my day and contributing so wonderfully to film history.

Thanks much! Nice to hear my work is appreciated. Be sure and check out the many other clips at all my channels (go to my main channel page to find them). They're a lot of fun!

  • No....my point is where did you find the unused take. I have two DVDs of the movie and that was not included in either of them.

  • @sennichi98

    Got it from the Blu-ray.

  • Where do you people find these things?

  • @sennichi98

    .

    I didn't find it - I made it.

  • Love seeing this kind of thing, especially when it has to do with A Star is Born. Just another piece of the puzzle of film history.

  • @kimbaedie ???

  • @sennichi98 Just today Beyonce said she is doing a remake of the movie directed by Clint Eastwood.

  • @kimbaedie looking exhausted was part of the role she was playing in the movie. "Vicki" was exhausted trying to live with Norman Maine

  • the only part i did not like was she looked exausted after each take,I am sure they were doing take after take. Still she gave a 100% each time what a trooper. Nice job.

  • The premier was 28 years ago, and I still remember the roar of the crowd after this number. It was even greater than I imagined, if such a thing were possible. I remember hearing that the number was cut cause they were worried about distribution issues in the South due to Judy dancing with the black kids.

We've certainly come a long way from those days to Dancing With the Stars...

  • I was at the 1983 and I KNEW that version was different. A few months?(can't remember) after the premier they released the film for theaters and I remember feeling somehow what I was seeing was different.

I thought I remembered seeing two boys dancing with Judy...But there were other things - the rain making machines weren't shown in the final version, and the big record player.

  • The little bobble with the hat at 4:10 (obviously an accident) is such a "Judy{" moment: it's a tribute to Cukor and the editors of the original film that they chose this take over the more polished alternate!
