i have the same problem as hitaiwaoaisenai when i click dupliverts it duplicates the icosphere around the original icosphere =(

just a quick tip for anyone who wants to do this, he modeled the rock the hard way. You can just use sculpt mode instead of edit mode.
And people, STOP COMPLAINING! This was '07, and it's not his fault it doesn't work. It's the people who made Blender's fault. If you wanna do it so bad, go out and get the old version of Blender that he used. And I haven't tried it, but you should be able to just have the meteor emit particles that render as the sphere. Should come out the same.

when i add dupliverts it makes 4 copies of the icospere, right around the icospere instead

Ok I'm not quite sure why everyone is having particle problems. I don't have the original file, so follow the tutorial exactly.

when ever i do duplierts for the spheares and particles it crashes my computor
I fixed that a little but now all the spheares go on top of the ball instead of replacing the particles.
how do i fix this?

Hmm, thats weird. Try re-doing it. I find if I start fresh I can find my mistake.
