The College of William & Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation have been running a field school in Williamsburg for 25 years. This season's excavations are centered on the Ravenscroft lot, which includes the buried remains of structures dating from the 1720s to the early 20th century. For more info, see this interview with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation staff archaeologist Andrew Edwards: http://www.archaeology.org/online/interviews/williamsburg/
That looks like fun! I went on a field school last summer, with App State, and it was pretty cool.
Although, tjhe ground looks like solid clay. Not fun to dig through... Sounds like they're trying to dig through rik.
