There is a reason why the pharmaceutical industry doesn't want marijuana to be used as a competing drug. Cannabis would put big pharma out of business. It also competes with other big businesses, like lumber, petro-chemical, and tobacco industries. Hemp can be used for many purposes, but the reason why it is banned is because of big businesses who want monopoly powers.
