TV lowers your IQ

I have disliked the television for as long as I can remember, but as I enjoy the occasional program I still have one.

Please post your ideas and opinions on what you believe television does to your personality and intelligence, mine is made quite clear in this vlog.

you make some very good points about television. i like a few shows but i find i don't turn my set on most days and i'll sit in front of the computer. but i do like to watch football and science, nature and educational shows too. the educational shows are the most redeeming thing about television

The major difference is that you have millions of channels of shit vs. a dozen or so.

Also, if used wisely, the computer can teach you things and raise your IQ and awareness.

I don't think it's the 'governments' doing. How would they control what goes on the TV? If anything, its a corporate boon, all that advertising.

BBC Parliament and the odd BBC show is the only thing I miss.

I don't believe TV lowers one's IQ. It would be quite difficult if not impossible to lower the IQ of an intelligent individual. But TV does have the ability to keep the stupid, well stupid, it also locks them into that stupid zone.

I completely agree with BrosaJarlen. You trade in your television for the computer which is better because you can hook up your games and watch television all in one so how much DO you spend on your computer is a good question.

You know.. I was like watching, this tv ..The Little Rascals! ..black and white made in uhhh, let see......1929! So I take a puff....I like...project myself man!! Whoa!! way back to the 1920's And I'm thinkin WTF? The Little Rascals live dude!! Some black kid playing with a white kid? That's like weird! So I take another puff. and um... It's like..hey! I'm not a massive TV watcher and could easily live without it (as opposed to the internet which I am addicted to) although I enjoy watching comedy shows which include political satire, documentaries and the odd sitcom. I can watch the music channels for hours ,but I went off soaps ages ago as they tend to be full of negativity (well, not all), and I prefer to read papers than listen to the news anymore, as on paper it's easier to question the info, I think.

Depends, if I am watching the History Channel, they have the best programs,

but all educational.

I have different t.v., I have On Demand, I choose to watch whatever is on the line-up when ever I want it to come on, so I don't miss programs I do watch, that's probably why I watch less than others?

I like shows like Monster Quest and Ancient History.
