Congratulations on laying the groundwork for smart grid technology and rudimentary consumption metrics.
Next step: holistic metrics. As a consumer it's critical that I understand the totality of my consumption patterns, not just the end result.
What fuels are used, and how are they obtained? How much carbon is produced? What percentage of my power is "green"? What is the total ecological cost?
These questions are all of equal or greater importance to basic metrics.
