Looks like the opening and the talent GFX are made by the same guys who made the GFX for sister KPRC in Houston back in 1994-95.

@videonut33 Novocom did this graphics package. I think the one you're thinking of for the launch of News 2 Houston, was done by the defunct firm of LoConte/Goldman Design.

@Houstontvnews Novocom did a good job on the GFX for KXAS. Much more different than WCAU's GFX back in 2000.

How long did they have that set? 

WFLA used the same design very briefly from 1992-1993.

Talent bump - it's easy to see how the WTVJ "NBC News Now" open was influenced.

To me, this was their best look graphics & music wise. I wished they kept Primetime because this was their best theme. Arnold's Wall To Wall will always be my favorite theme used by Channel 5 but Primetime is my close 2nd.

Strange that two different VOs are used (one for the main opening and one for the re-open). Also I wonder why 5 is using those old 2-name graphics at the beginning instead of the updated graphics. I loved the ending, "whatever." Mike looks like Jane just swore!

I believe NBC took over Ch.5 in 1997. NBC owns 76% of the station and LIN Broadcasting the full owner before NBC came in still has some ownership in the station which is 24%, but it's still ran like an NBC O & O station. Just from looking at this video a lot has changed at Ch.5 in 8 years.

when did NBC take over as the main owner of CH 5. was it late 2000 or 2001.
