Like the version of Cole Porter's 'I get a kick out of you' on this channel, this arrangement comes from a book of anonymous piano transcriptions of standards: "The Best in Broadway Standards: Piano Solos" - published by Warner Bros. in 1991, and found by me recently in a charity shop. Unlike many such books these pieces are not mere reductions of the published piano/vocal arrangements, but independent arrangements without chord symbols. To me many of the arrangements in the book (probably by more than one arranger) are interesting, but bizarre in their sometimes crude piano writing. This piece (a 1988 copyright arrangement) is far more conventional than the Porter arrangement. Schwartz (1900-84) wrote some of his best known songs (of which this is one) in the 1930s with the lyricist Howard Dietz. "Alone Together" first appeared in the 1932 Broadway revue "Flying Colors".

Beautiful! It's a great arrangement. One of my favorites from Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz - who wrote great songs. I have a 1944 recording of this song sung by Jo Stafford.

These arrangements are quite unusual, and it has been an interesting challenge to try and make something of them!

Beautiful melody set in beautiful harmonies, divided in an interesting way between the 2 hands. Thanks for the beautiful playing, uploading and info.
